What Should I Do the Night Before BOTOX?

The night before, try to get a full night’s sleep. Keep your skin clean and makeup-free the morning of your appointment. Staying hydrated and arriving with a clean face helps your injector clearly see your natural muscle movement, which is essential for precise, personalized placement of BOTOX and other neuromodulators like Dysport®, Jeuveau®, and Xeomin®.

When Should I Schedule BOTOX Before an Event?

Book your appointment at least 4 weeks before any big occasion where you want to look your best. BOTOX results typically begin to show within 3 to 5 days and take about 1 to 2 weeks to become fully visible. Building in a small buffer ensures you’ll look your best on the day that matters most.

If your calendar includes an upcoming wedding or gala, it’s helpful to give us as much lead time as you can. The more runway we have, the better we can tailor your treatment plan to ensure picture-perfect results.

Can I Take Tylenol® Before BOTOX?

Yes, acetaminophen (Tylenol) is generally considered safe to take before and after BOTOX, since it doesn’t carry the blood-thinning effects that increase bruising risk. Alternatively, aspirin, ibuprofen, and other NSAIDs should generally be avoided for about a week beforehand, unless your provider has directed otherwise.

Should I Take Zinc Before BOTOX?

Some patients start a zinc supplement several days before treatment, as early research suggests it may help the product bind to muscle tissue and kick in slightly faster. However, the research is not fully conclusive, and it’s not a requirement for ideal results. If you’re curious, ask your injector whether zinc before BOTOX makes sense for your treatment plan.

Can You Work Out Before BOTOX?

Light activity is fine, but it’s best to avoid intense exercise on the day of your BOTOX appointment. Elevated blood flow and a raised heart rate can increase the risk of bruising and swelling at injection sites and may lead to unwanted product migration after treatment. Therefore, we recommend skipping the gym and refraining from heavy workouts for at least 24 hours before and after BOTOX.

Is It Okay to Drink Coffee Before BOTOX?

You can have your usual coffee, but consider cutting back if you’re prone to jitters or sensitivity. In certain patients, excess caffeine can heighten discomfort during injections. That said, there’s no need to eliminate it from your morning routine entirely; moderation is key.

Can I Drink Alcohol Before BOTOX?

It’s best to avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before your appointment. Like NSAIDs, alcohol thins the blood and can make bruising more likely. Skipping happy hour the night before BOTOX pays off in smoother results.

Can I Get a Facial Before BOTOX?

Yes! In fact, many patients opt for a facial or chemical peel before getting BOTOX injections during the same appointment. Our team can help you find the right order for your visit. The timing to watch is afterward: hold off on your next facial or skin treatment for at least a week following BOTOX to give your results time to settle.

How Do I Choose the Right Injector?

Choosing the right injector starts with researching credentials, training, and before-and-after photos of real patients. This is one of the most important steps you can take before BOTOX, and it’s also why many Tallahassee patients trust our Allergan Top 500 medical spa for safe, natural-looking results.

At The SPA at Southeastern Plastic Surgery, treatments are supervised by board-certified plastic surgeons and led by an experienced team of injectors, including Kristen Snyder Costa, PA-C, and Jordan Waldorff Hill, PA-C. Kristen is a national trainer with Allergan and a sought-after speaker on injectables, having educated many aestheticians and providers across the region. She holds Distinguished Fellow status with the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA), an honor earned by fewer than 2% of PAs nationwide. Jordan brings over a decade of experience in neuromodulators and dermal fillers. Her treatment philosophy prioritizes natural, balanced-looking results tailored to each patient’s facial anatomy and goals.

Kristen, Jordan, and the rest of our skilled medical spa team bring a level of precision and experience to aesthetic injectable treatments that’s hard to find elsewhere in Tallahassee or the region.
